This is going to be a quick update but I will be sure to post a more detailed one soon!
Declan was born at 8:04am on March 25th. He weighed 6lb 10oz and was 20 inches long! We had to do the c-section because I was still only dilated to a 1.5 and 50% effaced. During the c-section my doctor discovered that my uterus was paper thin near the lower part. This is exdordinarly dangerous and had we continued with the pregnancy or even attempted a VBAC, my uterus could have ruptured and would have lost my ability to have any mroe children period. She was shocked to see how thin it was and this also just affirmed my belief that we have to trust in a larger purpose.
Aside from that the sugery went great and my recovery has been speedy. My BP has stabalized and is out of the danger zone. We were in the 170/100 range on Thursday but are almost completly normal now. I go tomorrow to get my staples removed.
Declan has been really amazing at home. We are breastfeeding and it seems he has caught on quite well! We are having some issues due my breast reduction but if we have to suppliment then we will. So far now though, my milk is in and things seem well. We go in for a check up this Thursday with Declan (he has slight jaundice). Hopefully he will start gaining weight!
Elliott has been an angel. He loves trying to "help" with Declan. He has yet to get jealous and he usually wants to be the one holding Declan or feeding or dressing etc LOL It has only been a few days but I am optimistic that Elliott will continue this 'loving' side towards Declan and never really get jealous. He has always been really good with me holding other people's babies, so hopefully this means he doesn't mind!
And here is a video of our precious new boy!
